Die-Cut Stickers vs. Kiss-Cut Stickers

Die-cut means that we are cutting through the sticker and paper backing, whereas kiss-cut means we are only cutting through the adhesive sticker part.

For more in-depth information about the cut options, please visit our Die-cut vs. Kiss-cut guide.

Die-Cut Bear Sticker | Stickers.com

Die-Cut

Die-cut means that we are cutting through both the vinyl sticker material and the paper backing. This cut type doesn't leave any material around the sticker. Another way to look at it is to think of it like a "cookie cutter." Your stickers are all individually cut out to the contour of your design, so you have individually cut stickers with no paper material around the design.

* Please note – Back Slit (Crack and Peel) is only available on our standard vinyl material option *

Kiss-Cut Bear Sticker | Stickers.com

Kiss-Cut

Kiss-cut means we are only cutting through the vinyl layer ("sticker material") and not cutting through the paper backing, leaving a paper material border around your sticker. When you choose a kiss-cut sticker, you will have extra material around your sticker for easy peeling.

The maximum file size we accept is 100 MB. Our preferred file types are:

  • Adobe Illustrator EPS (Encapsulated Post Script)
  • PDF (Adobe PDF)

When submitting these files, make sure you convert all fonts to outlines or curves to ensure they print correctly and the fonts are not substituted.

  • TIFF (High Resolution TIFF)
  • PNG (High Resolution PNG)

File Tips

  • Set up size proportionate to the exact size product you are ordering
  • Convert all text to outlines
  • Only Allow for bleed if necessary
  • Never flatten/merge layers in a PSD file
  • Indicate the cut line clearly for all decal products

Vector Art

Vector art consists of lines and curves that are mathematically defined objects. When viewing art in key line mode you can see the points or vectors when connecting your lines and curves. They can also be seen when using the pen tool or editing the points along a path. Vector art is ideal for type and drawn shapes because they can be enlarged to any size while maintaining crisp outlines and details without sacrificing quality. The distance between the vectors is calculated mathematically and is not dependent upon resolution.

Raster Art

Raster images consist of colored squares, called pixels. They are created by combining a series of various colored pixels. Digital photographs are made up of pixels. If you view a raster image at 200% or more you are able to see the individual pixels that make up the image. Raster images are dependent upon resolution so image enlargement is limited by the individual size at which the file was created. If a file is produced at a size that is larger than its resolution will allow, the quality will decrease. Printing a low resolution file will result in pixelation. Individual pixels are large enough to be easily discernable. Increasing the resolution will not solve this problem is there are not enough pixels to begin with. The program will add more pixels based upon the estimation of their location and will then assign their neighboring pixels's color value. This may cause an image to look muddy.

If submitting these files, please follow the guidelines below:

  • 100% scale (full size output) at 100 dpi
  • 50% scale at 200 dpi or higher
  • 25% scale at 300 dpi or higher
  • 10% scale at 600-1200 dpi recommended

Design Services

If you are not able to provide us with a good quality image, we do have a vectorizing/recreating service available. Most logos or images can be recreated for as little as $15; however images with more detail are subject to quoting prior to vectorizing the image. Please contact a sales representative for more details.

This service needs to be paid for in advance and we will be happy to give you a copy of the vector file once it is complete.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are some common uses for custom helmet stickers?

They are particularly popular among motorcyclists, bikers, baseball players, hockey players, softball players, welders, and firefighters. These stickers provide a means to add individuality and style to helmets while also allowing for easy identification and recognition. Whether it's showcasing team logos, safety certifications, or personal flair, helmet stickers serve as a customizable accessory across a wide range of activities and professions.

Are motorcycle helmet stickers popular?

Motorcycle helmet stickers are popular among riders. Many motorcyclists use helmet stickers to express their individuality, showcase their interests, or support specific causes. They are a common way for riders to personalize their helmets and make a statement while on the road.

What surfaces can helmet stickers be placed on?

Helmet stickers offer versatile application possibilities, adhering seamlessly to a wide range of helmet materials. Whether you have a motorcycle helmet, a sports helmet, or any other protective headgear, our helmet stickers are designed to complement and personalize your gear with ease. They will also apply properly to any non-porous surface such as; walls, metal, plastic, and glass.

Can helmet stickers damage the helmet's surface?

If properly installed and maintained, stickers for helmets shouldn’t ruin your underneath surface. Use a heat source, hair dryer works well, to loosen up the adhesive if you’re having trouble removing it. If you have to clean off any residue after removing your sticker, a simple mixture of warm dish soap and water will take the residue right off.

What kind of material are stickers made from?

We carry 3 different material types for our standard stickers. All stickers are available with a matte or gloss finish & a lamination choice between standard lamination, which is a liquid UV lamination or our premium lamination, which is a film lamination.

Economy Vinyl Specs:

  • Lifespan of up to 3-5 years.
  • Commonly used for laptop stickers, water bottle labeling and other novelty applications.

Standard Vinyl Specs:

  • Up to 3-5 year outdoor durability rating.
  • Commonly used for outdoor signs and car stickers.
  • Equipped with air release technology making it easier to install.

Premium Vinyl Specs:

  • Up to 8 years outdoor durability rating.
  • One of the toughest vinyl adhesive materials around. Commonly used for outdoor projects like car and truck stickers, contoured surfaces and marine application.

Check out our Sticker Materials page for more information on our sticker material options!

Do helmet stickers have a glossy or matte finish?

Helmet stickers are available in either a glossy or matte finish. Matte laminate diffuses light and reduces the shine of the ink making text easier to read from all angles since it doesn’t glare. Whereas, gloss laminate adds a shine to your helmet stickers that reflects light creating a more vibrant color than the matte finish.

Are your helmet stickers laminated?

Yes, all of our helmet stickers come laminated. You can choose from our standard lamination, which is a liquid or our premium lamination, which is a film lamination.

How do I design my custom helmet stickers on your website?

To make your own helmet sticker, start by deciding what your message is. Then, pick a size that will fit your lettering. Next, add any clipart or graphics using our online design tool, located in step 3 of your ordering process. If you need assistance, contact our customer service team

Do you have stock images I can use for my helmet stickers?

No, we do not have any stock images or numbers for printing. All of our helmet stickers are custom, meaning you can design them yourself, or connect with our graphic designers for assistance.

What surfaces or material do helmet stickers not stick to?

Helmet stickers do not stick well to dirty or textured surfaces. For the highest quality application, you will want to make sure the surface is clean, dry, and smooth. If you have dirt, dust or texture under your sticker, it will not stick well and will peel off of the surface you placed it on. Reason being, the adhesive material isn’t attaching to the surface as needed when there is dirt, dust, or texture on the surface you are applying it to. Check out our blog, “How to Install a Sticker” for more information.

Does heat make stickers stick better?

Yes, the adhesive on a helmet sticker works better in warmer temperatures. The ideal temperature for applying a bulk order sticker is room temperature (60 to 74 degrees Fahrenheit). It is more important to make sure it isn’t cold when applying a sticker. Just like how we don’t like to move in the cold, the glue film on the sticker will harden in the cold making it less sticky during your application. Check out our blog, A Guide On How To Install A Sticker for more details!

What sizes do your helmet stickers come in?

Helmet stickers have a minimum print width and height of 2” and a maximum print width and height of 12”. If you are looking for a larger sticker, either go to our oversized sticker page to order or contact us for a custom quote.
