DTF (direct-to-film) decals use a PET film with powder adhesive that bonds to fabric under heat — they work on almost any textile including cotton, polyester, and blends, and they feel soft on the garment. Heat transfers are a broader category that includes vinyl and screen-printed transfers pressed onto apparel. DTF is the most versatile and detailed option; heat transfers are great for bold solid-color designs at scale.
DTF decals and heat transfers work on cotton, polyester, poly-blends, canvas, denim, and most fabrics that can handle a heat press. Transfer stickers and full-color transfer stickers are designed for hard surfaces like walls, windows, glass, and smooth plastic — not fabric.
DTF decals and heat transfers require a heat press or household iron with firm pressure (300–320°F for 10–15 seconds). Transfer stickers and full-color transfer stickers apply like a standard decal — no heat needed.
DTF decals and heat transfers typically last the life of the garment (50+ wash cycles) when applied correctly and cared for properly. Transfer stickers are rated for 3–5 years outdoors on hard surfaces.
Wait 24 hours after applying. Wash inside-out in cold water, tumble dry low or hang dry. Avoid bleach and fabric softener. This applies to both DTF decals and heat transfers.
