Die-Cut Stickers vs. Kiss-Cut Stickers

Die-cut means that we are cutting through the sticker and paper backing, whereas kiss-cut means we are only cutting through the adhesive sticker part.

For more in-depth information about the cut options, please visit our Die-cut vs. Kiss-cut guide.

Die-Cut Bear Sticker | Stickers.com

Die-Cut

Die-cut means that we are cutting through both the vinyl sticker material and the paper backing. This cut type doesn't leave any material around the sticker. Another way to look at it is to think of it like a "cookie cutter." Your stickers are all individually cut out to the contour of your design, so you have individually cut stickers with no paper material around the design.

* Please note, back slit (crack and peel) is only available on stickers 2" x 2" up to 12" x 12".

* If selected on sizes larger than 12" x 12" your decals will not be backslit

Kiss-Cut Bear Sticker | Stickers.com

Kiss-Cut

Kiss-cut means we are only cutting through the vinyl layer ("sticker material") and not cutting through the paper backing, leaving a paper material border around your sticker. When you choose a kiss-cut sticker, you will have extra material around your sticker for easy peeling.

Preferred Files for Printing

The maximum file size we accept is 100 MB. Our preferred file types are:

  • Adobe Illustrator EPS (Encapsulated Post Script)
  • PDF (Adobe PDF)

When submitting these files, make sure you convert all fonts to outlines or curves to ensure they print correctly and the fonts are not substituted.

Additional Files Accepted

  • TIFF (High Resolution TIFF)
  • PNG (High Resolution PNG)

File Tips

  • Set up size proportionate to the exact size product you are ordering
  • Convert all text to outlines
  • Only Allow for bleed if necessary
  • Never flatten/merge layers in a PSD file
  • Indicate the cut line clearly for all decal products

Vector Art

Vector art consists of lines and curves that are mathematically defined objects. When viewing art in key line mode you can see the points or vectors when connecting your lines and curves. They can also be seen when using the pen tool or editing the points along a path. Vector art is ideal for type and drawn shapes because they can be enlarged to any size while maintaining crisp outlines and details without sacrificing quality. The distance between the vectors is calculated mathematically and is not dependent upon resolution.

Raster Art

Raster images consist of colored squares, called pixels. They are created by combining a series of various colored pixels. Digital photographs are made up of pixels. If you view a raster image at 200% or more you are able to see the individual pixels that make up the image. Raster images are dependent upon resolution so image enlargement is limited by the individual size at which the file was created. If a file is produced at a size that is larger than its resolution will allow, the quality will decrease. Printing a low resolution file will result in pixelation. Individual pixels are large enough to be easily discernable. Increasing the resolution will not solve this problem is there are not enough pixels to begin with. The program will add more pixels based upon the estimation of their location and will then assign their neighboring pixels's color value. This may cause an image to look muddy.

If submitting these files, please follow the guidelines below:

  • 100% scale (full size output) at 100 dpi
  • 50% scale at 200 dpi or higher
  • 25% scale at 300 dpi or higher
  • 10% scale at 600-1200 dpi recommended

Design Services

If you are not able to provide us with a print ready artwork, we do have a vectorizing/recreating service available. Most logos or images can be recreated for $70. Artwork design service discounts may apply.  Please contact a sales representative today for more details.

This service needs to be paid for in advance and we will be happy to give you a copy of the vector file once it is complete.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are some popular and rad uses for my skateboard stickers?

They aren't just limited to your board! Use your unique stickers to personalize water bottles, helmets, knee pads and more! Check out our common uses page for more ideas!

Can I put stickers on the top of my skateboard?

Putting stickers on the top, or grip tape, of your skateboard is not recommended. This is due to the surface texture/material and use. The grip tape of a skateboard is made from a sandpaper-like material that does not allow for proper sticker adhesion. The grip tape also gets the most use by skateboarders which would result in the rapid wearing of stickers if applied to this surface. The standard recommendation for skateboard sticker placement is the bottom portion, or deck, of the board where stickers can properly adhere and will not quickly wear off.

What kind of material are skateboard stickers made from?

We carry 3 different material types for our standard stickers. All skateboard stickers are available with a matte or gloss finish & a lamination choice between standard lamination, which is a liquid UV lamination or our premium lamination, which is a film lamination

. Economy Vinyl Specs:

  • Lifespan of up to 3-5 years.
  • Commonly used for laptop stickers, water bottle labeling and other novelty applications.

Standard Vinyl Specs:

  • Up to 3-5 year outdoor durability rating
  • Commonly used for outdoor signs and car stickers
  • Equipped with air release technology making it easier to install

Premium Vinyl Specs:

  • Up to 8 years outdoor durability rating
  • One of the toughest vinyl adhesive materials around.
  • Commonly used for outdoor projects like car and truck stickers, contoured surfaces and Marine application
  • Equipped with air release technology making it easier to install

Visit our material types page to learn more about our sticker material options!

Do skateboard stickers have a glossy or matte finish?

Skateboard stickers are available in either a glossy or matte finish. Matte laminate diffuses light and reduces the shine of the ink making text easier to read from all angles since it doesn’t glare. Whereas, gloss laminate adds a shine to your stickers that reflects light creating a more vibrant color than the matte finish.

Are your skateboard stickers laminated?

Yes, all of our skateboard stickers come laminated. You can choose from our standard lamination, which is a liquid or our premium lamination, which is a film lamination.

How do I design my custom skateboard stickers on your website?

To make your own skateboard sticker, start by deciding what your message is. Then, pick a size that will fit your lettering. Next, add any clipart or graphics using our online design tool, located in step 3 of your ordering process. If you need assistance, contact our customer service team.

Do you have stock images I can use for my skateboard stickers?

No, we do not have any stock images or numbers for printing. All of our skateboard stickers are custom, meaning you can design them yourself, or connect with our graphic designers for assistance.

What are the best surfaces to place skateboard stickers on?

Skateboard stickers work best on smooth, solid surfaces. Some of these places include glass, metal and plastic. Examples include; the bottom of your skateboard, even car doors, windows , laptops or lockers. Check out our blog, “How to Install a Sticker” for more information.

What surfaces or material do skateboard stickers not stick to?

Skateboard stickers do not stick well to dirty or textured surfaces. For the highest quality application, you will want to make sure the surface is clean, dry, and smooth. If you have dirt, dust or texture under your skateboard sticker, it will not stick well and will peel off of the surface you placed it on. Reason being, the adhesive material isn’t attaching to the surface as needed when there is dirt, dust, or texture on the surface you are applying it to. Check out our blog, “How to Install a Sticker” for more information.

Does heating a skateboard sticker make it stick better?

The adhesive on a skateboard sticker works better in warmer temperatures. The ideal temperature for applying a skateboard sticker is room temperature (60 to 74 degrees Fahrenheit). It is more important to make sure it isn’t cold when applying a sticker. Just like how we don’t like to move in the cold, the glue film on the sticker will harden in the cold making it less sticky during your application. Check out our blog for more details!

How do I remove my custom skateboard sticker?

We advise using a direct heat source, such as a blow dryer or heat gun, to break the sticker's adherence. Be careful that some surfaces (on which your sticker is affixed) may sustain damage if heat is focused in one location for an extended period of time. For more information, check out our blog on sticker removal!

What’s your most affordable sticker?

It depends on your specific project and needs. Our price set is based on 5 options our customers can pick from: Cut type, material type, size, quantity, and production time. For help, contact our customer service team.

What sizes do your skateboard stickers come in?

Skateboard stickers have a minimum print width and height of 2” and a maximum print width and height of 12”. If you are looking for a larger sticker, either go to our oversized sticker page to order or contact us for a custom quote.
