Die-Cut Stickers vs. Kiss-Cut Stickers

Die-cut means that we are cutting through the sticker and paper backing, whereas kiss-cut means we are only cutting through the adhesive sticker part.

For more in-depth information about the cut options, please visit our Die-cut vs. Kiss-cut guide.

Die-Cut Bear Sticker | Stickers.com

Die-Cut

Die-cut means that we are cutting through both the vinyl sticker material and the paper backing. This cut type doesn't leave any material around the sticker. Another way to look at it is to think of it like a "cookie cutter." Your stickers are all individually cut out to the contour of your design, so you have individually cut stickers with no paper material around the design.

* Please note, back slit (crack and peel) is only available on stickers 2" x 2" up to 12" x 12".

* If selected on sizes larger than 12" x 12" your decals will not be backslit

Kiss-Cut

Kiss-cut means we are only cutting through the vinyl layer ("sticker material") and not cutting through the paper backing, leaving a paper material border around your sticker. When you choose a kiss-cut sticker, you will have extra material around your sticker for easy peeling.

Vector Art

Vector art consists of lines and curves that are mathematically defined objects. When viewing art in key line mode you can see the points or vectors when connecting your lines and curves. They can also be seen when using the pen tool or editing the points along a path. Vector art is ideal for type and drawn shapes because they can be enlarged to any size while maintaining crisp outlines and details without sacrificing quality. The distance between the vectors is calculated mathematically and is not dependent upon resolution.

Raster Art

Raster images consist of colored squares, called pixels. They are created by combining a series of various colored pixels. Digital photographs are made up of pixels. If you view a raster image at 200% or more you are able to see the individual pixels that make up the image. Raster images are dependent upon resolution so image enlargement is limited by the individual size at which the file was created. If a file is produced at a size that is larger than its resolution will allow, the quality will decrease. Printing a low resolution file will result in pixelation. Individual pixels are large enough to be easily discernable. Increasing the resolution will not solve this problem if there are not enough pixels to begin with. The program will add more pixels based upon the estimation of their location and will then assign their neighboring pixels's color value. This may cause an image to look muddy.

If submitting these files, please follow the guidelines below:

  • 100% scale (full size output) at 100 dpi
  • 50% scale at 200 dpi or higher
  • 25% scale at 300 dpi or higher
  • 10% scale at 600-1200 dpi recommended

Frequently Asked Questions

What material are your business hours stickers made out of?

Custom business hours stickers are printed on a 4 millimeter transparent vinyl material designed for both interior and exterior applications.

What is the difference between front and back adhesive business hours stickers?

Back adhesive means that the backside of the sticker adheres to the intended surface. Choose back adhesive if you want your custom business hours sticker to be outside on a window, facing outwards. Front adhesive means the frontside of the sticker product adheres to the intended surface. So, if you want your custom business hours sticker on the inside of a window, yet facing outward, you would choose front adhesive.

How do I know where my sticker will be clear?

Your sticker will be clear on any area(s) that your graphic isn’t showing. So the portion of your graphic that will remain clear largely depends on what you are printing. Please specify in the design notes where you want your sticker to be clear.

How long do business hours stickers last?

They have a 3 plus year lifespan when properly installed and cared for. Front adhesive is perfect for business window advertising since you can read the window sticker from the outside. But, the business hours sticker is applied to the inside surface of the window protecting the sticker from outdoor weather.

Can I place my business hours stickers on the inside of my window and have it be visible on the outside?

Yes, you can.. Select "Front Adhesive" if you would like your transparent sticker to be visible to someone on the outside of your window. This is possible with our clear window clings product as well.

Can I reposition my business hours stickers?

No. These stickers are meant as a permanent fixture, therefore we do not recommend moving your transparent sticker once it has been placed. If you need a repositionable transparent sticker option, then try using our window clings. They use low tack adhesive which allows you to apply and reposition them several times.

Do custom business hours stickers have a glossy or matte finish?

Our front adhesive business hours stickers do not come with a glossy or matte finish due to the adhesive being on the front of the sticker where the finish is applied. However, back adhesive business hours stickers are available in either a glossy or matte finish. Matte laminate diffuses light and reduces the shine of the ink making text easier to read from all angles since it doesn’t glare. Whereas, gloss laminate adds a shine to your business hours stickers that reflects light creating a more vibrant color than the matte finish.

Are your custom business hours stickers laminated?

Our front adhesive business hours stickers do not come with lamination due to the adhesive being on the front of the sticker where the lamination is applied. However, back adhesive business hours stickers are available with a lamination choice. You can choose from our standard lamination, which is a liquid lamination or our premium lamination, which is a film lamination.

How do I design my custom business hours vinyl stickers on your website?

To make your own business hours sticker, start by deciding what your message is. Then, pick a size that will fit your lettering. Next, add any clipart or graphics using our online design tool, located in step 3 of your ordering process. If you need assistance, contact our customer service team.

Do you have stock images I can use for my business hours stickers?

No, we do not have any stock images or numbers for printing. All of our business hours stickers are custom, meaning you can design them yourself, or connect with our graphic designers for assistance.

What surfaces or material do business hours vinyl stickers not stick to?

Business hours vinyl stickers do not stick well to dirty or textured surfaces. For the highest quality application, you will want to make sure the surface is clean, dry, and smooth. If you have dirt, dust or texture under your sticker, it will not stick well and will peel off of the surface you placed it on. Reason being, the adhesive material isn’t attaching to the surface as needed when there is dirt, dust, or texture on the surface you are applying it to. Check out our blog about applying stickers for more information.

Does heating a business hours sticker make it stick better?

The adhesive on a sticker works better in warmer temperatures. The ideal temperature for applying a sticker is room temperature (60 to 74 degrees Fahrenheit). It is more important to make sure it isn’t cold when applying a sticker. Just like how we don’t like to move in the cold, the glue film on the sticker will harden in the cold making it less sticky during your application. Check out our blog for more details!

What sizes do your custom business hours vinyl stickers come in?

All of our stickers have a minimum print width and height of 2” and a maximum print width and height of 12”. If you are looking for a larger sticker, either go to our oversized sticker page to order or contact us for a custom quote.
